Meet the Maker
My name is Mace Grunsfeld. I’m a mechanical engineer and arcade technician by trade, but my heart is in the event scene.
It Started in the Dust
The idea for Bhoto Booth hit me while I was at Lightning in a Bottle. I was surrounded by thousands of people in incredible, creative costumes, radiating pure joy. I looked around and thought, “These people look amazing, and they need a way to capture this right now.”
But I didn't want to just offer them a smartphone selfie. I wanted to give them a high-quality, tactile memory that matched the effort they put into their self-expression.
Doing it Right the First Time
I looked at what was available in the market—mostly flimsy iPad stands and plastic shells—and I knew I couldn't go down that route. My philosophy has always been to do it right the first time.
I didn't want a booth that wobbled when you laughed or broke down halfway through the night. I wanted to build a tank.

From Robotics to Raves
My booths are a blend of passion and precision. I build them using the industrial-grade materials I discovered in high school robotics, refined by the design methods I learned getting my engineering degree.
If you look closely at my booths, you’ll see industrial aluminum extrusion and components usually reserved for manufacturing or automation, not parties. These are engineered machines, not just photo kiosks. I build and maintain every unit myself, applying the same technical standards I use to keep arcade games running across San Francisco.

My Promise to You
When you book Bhoto Booth, you aren't getting a generic rental. You are getting a machine built by an engineer who loves a good party. I am on a mission to bring genuine "End-User Joy" to San Francisco, Oakland, and beyond—whether that's through a perfect photo print or a round of my live Riddle game, Riddles Are No Fun.
Let’s make something memorable.
